Motomike Racing Team to Compete in CSBK With Two Bikes For 2021
Building on the success achieved in the shortened 2020 Canadian Superbike season, MotoMike Canada Inc. has added a second bike to the team with fellow friend and racer Harvey Renaud piloting an identically prepped Kawasaki Ninja 400 in the Super Sonic Roadracing School Amateur Lightweight category.
New rules for 2021 mean a switch to Dunlop KR448 and KR451 slick tires, and the permitted use of tire warmers. This will help to lower lap times, and increase the competition at the sharp end of the field.
With two podiums and a top-five in 2020, Mike Maguire was looking to capture the Amateur Lightweight sport bike title in his debut season, before it was cut short due to the pandemic. "We feel that adding a second bike and rider for 2021 will help us get up to speed with the new tire rules." He said earlier today "I haven't run on slicks before on the 400, so we will need to be able to make changes to the handling and feel of the bikes in our short practice sessions, and having a second, identical bike, and a rider with similar speed should help both of us to get to the front with the fast kids. Hopefully we can improve on our results from last year, it would be nice to step on the top of the podium in 2021!"
Maguire's #613 and Renaud's #28 will make their debut this weekend at Calabogie Motorsports Park west of Ottawa, in a CSBK double-header weekend along with Pro6GP, and VRRA classes.
